Smokin' Sticks BBQ: Saturday, August 31
In conjunction with our welcome ceremonies, we will be hosting a BBQ. The Alberta Welcome BBQ for the 2024 Men's Field Lacrosse National Championships will take place on the evening of Saturday, August 31. Tickets for the BBQ will be set at $15/person. This event is open to the team's staff, players, and team trainers.
The BBQ meal will consist of pulled Alberta beef on a brioche bun, baked beans, corn on the cob, drinks, and cookies.
The event will pay tribute to the Indigenous heritage of lacrosse which is often called the "Medicine Game." In Indigenous culture, lacrosse symbolizes a spiritual ritual to honor, heal, and celebrate individuals and communities.

Land Recognition: We would like to thank the creator for giving this medicine to the Iroquois / Haudenosaunee (people of the longhouse) and sharing this medicine with the world. We would also like to thank all First Nations, Metis, and Inuit. As we all sit in their territories, we say thank you. We say thank you, Creator, for giving us Mother Earth; she then gave us the tree from which our sticks are made. This is the true root of the medicine we call lacrosse today.
Nya:weh / thank you.
